Contrasting Responses of Guar Genotypes Shed Light on Multiple Component Traits of Salinity Tolerance Mechanisms

چکیده
Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.) is a legume crop, and gum derived from its seeds has various industrial applications. Due to tolerance abiotic stresses, guar can be grown under water-deficit or high-salinity conditions. In this investigation, four diverse genotypes that performed at similar level in field conditions were evaluated salinity experiment the greenhouse lysimeter system. Based on salt index (STI) for shoot biomass, root length, Matador PI 268229 classified as salt-tolerant, 340261 537281 salt-sensitive. Leaf Na concentrations 4- 5.5-fold higher, leaf Cl 1.6- 1.9-fold higher salt-sensitive lines than salt-tolerant salinity. The strong associations between K compared control (K-salinity/K-control) ratio STI stem length advocate importance of K-salinity/K-control total concentrations. expression analyses genes involved Na+ Cl? transport revealed different component traits mechanisms, such exclusion Na+/Cl? root, sequestration vacuoles, retrieval xylem during stress, root-to-shoot translocation, K+-Na+ homeostasis.

Evaluation of salinity tolerance in rice genotypes
Salinity is considered as one of important physical factors influencing rice (Oryza sativa L.) production. Knowledge of salinity effects on rice seedling growth and yieldcomponents would improve management practices in fields andincrease our understanding of salt tolerance mechanisms in rice. This study was designed to assess the role of Saltol QTL in regards to effects of salinity on plant gro...
متن کاملMechanisms of salinity tolerance.
The physiological and molecular mechanisms of tolerance to osmotic and ionic components of salinity stress are reviewed at the cellular, organ, and whole-plant level. Plant growth responds to salinity in two phases: a rapid, osmotic phase that inhibits growth of young leaves, and a slower, ionic phase that accelerates senescence of mature leaves. Plant adaptations to salinity are of three disti...

Mechanisms of high salinity tolerance in plants.
Among abiotic stresses, high salinity stress is the most severe environmental stress, which impairs crop production on at least 20% of irrigated land worldwide. In response to high salinity stress, various genes get upregulated, the products of which are involved either directly or indirectly in plant protection. Some of the genes encoding osmolytes, ion channels, receptors, components of calci...
متن کاملEvaluation of Tolerance Rate of Some Genotypes of Beans (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.) To Salinity Stress
Evaluation of the physiological and biochemical traits can help to identify strategies for selection of resistant cultivars and increased crop yield production under diverse environmental conditions such as SALT stress conditions. To this end, an experiment was conducted in a greenhouse based on a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The experimental factors were six...
